Spruce It Up Tips for Spring

Cover furniture:
Slipcovers are the best and easiest way to make furniture look new. Consider reversible ones – a wintery color on one side and summery white linen on the other. If you are looking for a seamstress, bulletin boards in fabric stores are always a good source.

Add a Pop of Color:
You can't go wrong with a fun citrus color throw pillow in any room. A few accents in yellow or coral add a level of interest to any color scheme.

Give New Life:
A new coat of paint or new stain can give an existing piece of furniture a whole new life. You don’t always have to buy everything new.

Change with the Season:
Rotate accessories with the seasons to keep your room looking fresh. Favorite items that you already own are a smart budget saver and it gives you a chance to enjoy those items that have been taking up space in a cabinet or closet.

Change the Wall Color:
The cheapest way to redesign a room is with paint. A new color can change the tone of a room and you can easily do-it-yourself.

Clean and De-clutter:
Toss out all those tired looking house plants that need new dirt and have seen better days and add a fresh fern or ivy in a colorful pot. Tackle those cabinets that have too many old plastic butter containers and broken things that you have never repaired. Rid yourself and make room for new ideas and fresh new approaches to your storage.

New Lamp Shades:
Plan to spend 25 to $50 per lamp, and take your lamps to a lighting store. Pick out new shades in a color you wouldn’t normally choose to bring a little more color into the room. Remember to use opaque shades in the bedroom to direct light up or down.
